Deco is a smaller, lighter weight version of our popular Halcyon Rug Wool. It is custom spun from the same blend of New Zealand and domestic wool. Just as the name implies, Deco's rich and clear color line is perfect for any decor.
Whether looking to create a piece with ethnic appeal or something with a unique style to compliment any home's interior, you will love the choices Deco affords you.
Because of its smaller size Deco is extremely versatile. It is ideal for creating handwoven and hooked designs with more intricate details. It is perfect for highly patterned rug designs like krokbragd and works beautifully in knotted and pile techniques. It is also well suited for outlining and whipping hooked rugs. If needed, double stranding Deco can be an acceptable substitution for Halcyon Rug Wool.
Deco's range of colors is ideal for mixing and matching, blending and shading. In your next woven project try double stranding two close Deco colors for a distinctive color effect. Rug hookers and punchers, as well as tapestry weavers, will find the wide range of colors and Deco's smaller size great for shading flowers, sunsets and landscapes.
When designing don't forget how well Deco and Geo work together. Deco and Geo are essentially the same size yarn so they can be used in the same project without any problems. Deco is dyed on white to produce clear and pure colors, while Geo is dyed on natural grey for heathered tones of the same colors. Since Deco is a 3-ply and Geo is a singles, combining the two is a creative experience in which you can play with both color and surface appearance.
Recommended sett for weft faced rugs:
6 ends per inch on a 3 or 4-ply wool or linen warp
Recommended weft allowances for weft faced rugs:
Plain weave: 4-6 ounces per square foot
Twill & Boundweave: 5-8 ounces per square foot
Recommended yarn for punching and hooking: Two skeins (8 ounces) per square foot
