The unique spinning system used to make the yarn was created nearly 200 years ago and is still used today in Europe and Asia, though rarely seen in the United States. By duplicating the motion of a hand spinner's long draw, the mule spinner is able to spin a soft, lofty wool with a homespun appearance.
The unique qualities and colors of this yarn will be appreciated by both knitters and weavers. The large array of colors is reminiscent of our beautiful state of Maine. You will find colors as subtle as those found along our rocky coast and sandy beaches, as well as more vibrant shades characteristic of our wildflowers, lakes and forests. Because this yarn retains some of its natural lanolin, sweaters, hats, and mittens will be water repellent. This is a perfect yarn for weaving blankets and felting knit and woven fabric. Weavers: you can mix the worsted and sport weights, which are spun in the same colors.
Care - It will benefit from a gentle washing before use, to allow the fiber to "bloom". After that, Hand wash or dry clean. Lay flat to dry.
