Louët Looms - Back to floor looms

European styling characterizes the compact and sturdy looms made in Holland by Louët. The David has a unique sinking shed jack system that produces a generous shed with remarkably light treadling. Their Spring loom is a parallel countermarch loom that can have up to 12 harnesses and 14 treadles. Louët's Delta loom is also a parallel countermarch loom, similar to the Spring, but a bit more substantial for heavier weaving. Both the Spring and the Delta have Louët's patented floating breast beam for constant warp tension.
The David 70 - 8 shaft - 28" Loom - $2200.00
or The David 90 - 8 shaft - 36" Loom - $2350.00

This is a unique sinking shed jack loom. It is a compact 8 harness, 10 treadle loom that outperforms many larger looms. It is easy to tie-up like other jack or counter balance looms, but the David gives the impression of a counter march loom. All the harnesses not pulled down by a treadle are lifted by an ingenious spring system, which also results in easy treadling. The loom is made of lacquered birch and comes nearly assembled with a built-in raddle, shelf on top of the castle, 800 Texsolv string heddles, 10 dent stainless steel reed, and 16 warp sticks. Available options - second warp beam, sectional warp beam (1" sections), friction brake for warp beam, 4 shaft extension kit, bench - call or email for more information.

Spring 90cm - 36" 8 shaft Loom ... $3650
Spring 110cm - 44" 8 shaft Loom ... $3700

The Louët "Spring" loom is one of the most innovative and cleverly designed floor looms on the market today. It uses the parallel countermarch system for the harnesses and lams, which is easy to use and simple to tie up. Another exclusive feature to this loom it the patented moving breastbeam controled by springs. The breast beam, is attached to the loom in such a way that it is free to move toward the harnesses when the shed is made and then back toward the weaver when the shed is closed again. The distance between the breast beam and the back beam actually changes during weaving. With this system a larger shed can be obtained with less tension increase in the warp and less effort from the weaver. The advantages of this system are especially evident as you near the end of the warp. Even when the end of the warp is very close to the harnesses, a good shed can be made, thus saving yards and yards of wasted warp over the life of your loom. The moving breastbeam also brings on exactly the same warp tension each time the warp is advanced. The design of the loom includes a built-in raddle on top of the castle and a storage shelf for keeping everything you need within easy reach. The Spring comes standard with 8 harnesses and 10 treadles, but gives the possibility to expand it, by sets of 4 harnesses and 4 treadles. The heddles and tie-up cords are of the Swedish Texsolv system that make them quiet, strong and non-stretching. The spring has two weaving widths 90 cm (36") and 110 cm (44"). It comes standard with four harnesses, six treadles, 600 Texsolv heddles (Spring 90) and 800 Texsolv heddles (Spring 110), stanless steel reed 40-10 (10 e.p.i.) 12 cm (5") inside height, friction brake, 2 lease sticks and 16 warp sticks. The Spring is made of lacquered beech and comes ready-to-assemble with clear finish.

Louët Delta 110cm - 44" 8 Shaft Loom - $5750

This is a sturdy loom with quality craftsmanship and modern innovations. As the successor to the Hollandia, this loom combines its predecessor's strength and sturdiness with the technically advanced features of the Spring loom. The moving breast beam guarantees even warp tension and is gentle to the most delicate threads since the breast beam moves forward as the shed opens, and increases the shed size even with 12 harnesses and inelastic warps. The Delta uses Louët's parallel countermarch system, which is simple to understand and easy to use. The Delta has a friction brake on the warp beam and a convenient advancing system on the cloth beam. The loom comes with a built-in raddle on top, a storage shelf, 10 dent stainless steel reed, 1200 Texsolv string heddles, lease and tie-up sticks, 16 warp sticks, and a profiled lath on the breast beam to protect the fabric. The loom comes partially assembled. Assembly following the detailed directions takes about 2 hours. The loom is made of ash with a double layer of clear semi-gloss, non-yellowing lacquer. Available options - 4 shaft extension kits, bench, second warp beam, sectional warp beam (1" sections), flyshuttle device, extra pair of treadles - call or email for assistance. Overall Dimensions - width 55", height 50", depth 39" (open) and 30" (folded)
